Axon Bower – These New Streets

Axon Bower - These New Streets - artworkJersey based artist Axon Bower is someone I’ve seen play around the islands a few times over the years, but this is the first time I’ve had the chance to hear him fully produced on record, with debut single These New Streets.

The track starts off much as I anticipated with an acoustic guitar and vocals but, shortly afterwards, a full band sound kicks in with a much more complete upbeat indie pop sensibility to the whole thing, lead by the acoustic guitar but with a great beat, bass line and lead electric guitar parts in the mix.

Lyrically it comes out with a feeling that’s fresh, with a real sense of adventure and exploration to it so, while it may not be ground breaking on a stylistic level, it has a tremendous vitality of its own.

This vitality is wrapped up in the whole thing and left me really wanting to see and hear it played live with a full band, as I can see Axon bouncing around on stage and an audience joining in.

These New Streets then packs a lot into its three minutes and brings a great fresh energy with it that adds Axon Bower to the list of great young singer songwriters to have come out of the Jersey scene over the last couple of years.
